The vendor-consolidation offering has several participation paths for retail suppliers, including inventory storage, cross-dock delivery and supplier pickup.

Documented API and EDI options

Company materials describe warehouse and transport connectivity, with named ecommerce platforms and retail-data workflows.

Cons
Pricing needs a scoped proposal

Public materials reviewed do not establish an ecommerce rate card or fulfillment minimums, limiting early cost comparisons.

Network claims need facility-level validation

A nationwide presence and advertised delivery reach do not establish the capabilities or transit performance of the site offered to your account.

Merchant outcomes are not independently established here

Our review did not establish a representative merchant-review sample or independently measured accuracy, support responsiveness or delivery performance.

Overview

UNIS is most compelling when your fulfillment decision also involves retail distribution or freight. An importer selling through an online store and supplying retailers has several operations to coordinate: inbound containers, storage, individual orders and larger outbound shipments. UNIS offers services across those stages. The proposal should show who handles each stage and how inventory moves between them.

Founded in 1989, UNIS describes itself as an asset-based fulfillment and transportation provider. Its corporate office is in Buena Park, California. Our UNIS company profile carries the current directory facts and ratings.

Our 3.8/5 overall rating reflects the documented service range, technology and procurement tradeoffs. Technology and scalability are its strongest dimensions in our assessment; public pricing transparency is weaker. These are editorial scores, not an average of customer star ratings. We reviewed published materials and did not place test orders or audit a warehouse.

For a seller comparing a straightforward parcel-fulfillment service, start with the economics and implementation requirements. A long service list adds value only when it solves work you actually need done. A smaller business is not automatically a poor fit, but we could not verify a public minimum that establishes eligibility.

Pricing

UNIS uses a custom-quote model in our directory. We did not find a public ecommerce pick-and-pack rate card or a verified minimum monthly order volume in the materials reviewed. That makes a proposal necessary for a meaningful cost comparison. It does not establish that UNIS is more expensive than another provider.

Its ecommerce page describes monthly storage billing when space is in use. That statement does not establish the storage unit, a monthly-spend minimum or the full cost of fulfillment. Freight tariffs and fuel surcharges also should not be treated as ecommerce pick-and-pack prices.

What to include in a UNIS quote

Send each shortlisted provider the same order history, SKU dimensions and weights, storage profile, return rate, sales channels and peak forecast. Ask UNIS to identify the facilities and services behind its quote so you can compare the same operating plan.

Request separate lines for receiving and unloading; storage and its billing basis; pick-and-pack labor and packaging; parcel or freight transport; and returns processing. Where relevant, add kitting, retailer preparation, EDI setup and ongoing integration support. This is a request checklist, not a statement that UNIS charges every item.

Have the proposal state any minimum spend, peak surcharges, rate-review terms and inventory-removal costs. Compare a normal month and a peak month, including any costs that remain with your team or another carrier. Our 3.0/5 pricing score reflects limited public visibility into those terms, rather than a measured price disadvantage.

Features

Ecommerce and retail fulfillment

UNIS markets ecommerce, wholesale, retail and omnichannel fulfillment. Its fulfillment service directory also lists subscription-box kitting and custom packaging. These are useful capabilities to scope for a brand that sends individual orders to shoppers and larger shipments to retail customers.

Ask whether the proposed site can manage your channel mix from the same inventory pool, how stock is allocated when a retail order competes with online demand, and which packaging or labeling tasks are included. A service listed on the website does not establish availability at every facility.

Transportation and inbound freight

The UNIS services page lists port drayage, transloading, full truckload, less-than-truckload transport and dedicated fleets alongside retail distribution. That breadth gives importers a reason to discuss the inbound journey as part of the fulfillment proposal.

The potential benefit is simpler coordination between freight and warehouse work. Confirm who owns each handoff, when inventory becomes available to sell, and who resolves exceptions. Buying several services from one provider does not by itself guarantee a single service-level agreement or lower total cost.

Walmart vendor consolidation

UNIS describes itself as a Walmart-approved consolidation partner. Its program offers three participation paths: store inventory with UNIS, deliver pre-tagged shipments to a cross-dock, or arrange pickup from the supplier. The program is aimed at suppliers shipping into Walmart distribution.

Treat that as a separate requirement from fulfilling Walmart Marketplace orders to consumers. Ask UNIS which program, shipment preparation and delivery responsibilities your account would use. Approval status is company-reported here; we have not independently verified it with Walmart.

WISE, integrations and order visibility

UNIS describes WISE account setup, inventory reports and order tracking on its ecommerce page. Its integration list includes Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Magento, Walmart and SPS Commerce, with API, XML, flat-file and EDI connectivity.

The company also describes API access for warehouse and transportation data and EDI workflows for orders, shipment advice and advance shipping notices. These documented capabilities support our 4.2/5 technology assessment. We have not tested the connections.

During a demo, walk through an order import, inventory update, cancellation, partial shipment and return. Identify which connections are ready to configure and which require development. Agree on implementation ownership, error alerts and ongoing support costs before selecting the platform.

Shipping speed and warehouse fit

UNIS advertises same-day ecommerce fulfillment and two-day reach to 98% of the US. That supports a closer look at the network, but the claim is not a guarantee for every order or destination. Our speed score is 4.0/5, based on the advertised service design rather than a measured delivery audit.

Request a destination-level transit analysis from the exact warehouse proposed for your inventory. Check order cutoffs, weekend processing, carrier services and peak exceptions. We do not use a precise fulfillment-center count because the public network information does not establish a reconciled fulfillment-only total.

Accuracy, support and growth

UNIS describes counted receiving and inventory reporting, which support our assessment of its inventory controls. Our 3.8/5 accuracy score is not an audited order-accuracy percentage. Ask for the measurement definition, reporting cadence and process for investigating discrepancies.

Customer service scores 3.5/5 in our editorial assessment. The reviewed material does not establish a representative merchant-satisfaction score or a tested response time. Request a named escalation contact, support hours and references whose products and facilities resemble yours.

Scalability scores 4.2/5 for the breadth of channels and logistics services available to evaluate. Confirm capacity for your own peak forecast, launch dates and SKU growth in the proposed operation. A broad network is a useful starting point; reserved capacity and a workable ramp plan are the evidence your team needs before launch.

Verdict

Shortlist UNIS if your team needs to evaluate ecommerce fulfillment together with retail distribution, inbound freight or Walmart vendor consolidation. Its service range is useful when those requirements overlap.

Make the decision on the proposed operation: the actual warehouse, costs, system connections and commitments for your products. Ask UNIS to demonstrate one order flowing from receipt through shipment, then show how an exception gets resolved. For a business primarily choosing on published parcel-fulfillment pricing, the sales-led evaluation will take more work.

UNIS has enough documented capability to earn a place on that shortlist. Before committing inventory, get a proposal tied to a named facility and speak with merchants using a similar setup.

Frequently asked questions

What operators ask about UNIS

What does UNIS do?

UNIS offers ecommerce fulfillment, retail distribution, warehousing and transportation services, including drayage, transloading and Walmart vendor consolidation. The relevant service mix should be specified in your proposal.

Where is UNIS based?

UNIS lists its corporate office in Buena Park, California. It was founded in 1989.

How much does UNIS fulfillment cost?

Request a custom quote. We did not verify a public ecommerce rate card or monthly fulfillment minimum. Compare receiving, storage, fulfillment, transport and any account-specific work using the same demand profile.

Does UNIS work with Shopify?

Shopify appears in the company’s published integration list. Confirm the connector, supported data flows, setup work and fees for your store; a listed integration is not proof of a tested plug-and-play connection.

Does UNIS guarantee two-day delivery?

UNIS advertises two-day reach to 98% of the US. We have not verified a universal two-day delivery guarantee. Ask for coverage from the proposed warehouse, the carrier service and the applicable cutoffs and exceptions.

Is UNIS Walmart consolidation the same as Marketplace fulfillment?

The described consolidation program serves suppliers moving freight into Walmart distribution. Marketplace orders to individual shoppers require a separate fulfillment scope; do not assume one program covers both.

Is the 3.8 rating a customer-review average?

No. It is 3PL Insider’s editorial assessment of pricing, technology, accuracy, speed, customer service and scalability. It evaluates documented capabilities and tradeoffs; it is not based on our own test orders or a customer-rating aggregate.
